2004 Freedom Festival Parade

tn614(June 27, 2004) At the suggestion of one of our new members, the SCCoIA participated in this year’s Freedom Festival Parade in downtown Cedar Rapids on June 26th.

We had a 5 car display made up of area member’s cars including Dale, Mike, Al, Linda and Loren.

The parade started at 9 am Saturday Morning and made it’s way down 2nd Avenue Southeast to 2nd Street and then back up 3rd Avenue to Green Square Park.

Our display was shown for about 20 seconds as it stops in front of the judging stand just outside the TV 9 studios. At that time they read a brief press release that explained what our car club is about and what we do.

For those who may not be familiar with the Freedom Festival, it is a 11 day event that has something for everyone. There are cultural events, sporting events, tournaments and more. There are outdoor activities of all kinds such as the BBQ Round-up, a water-show on the Cedar River, boat races, the parade, and a large fireworks display off of the Island in downtown CR on the 4th.
